The Public Areas soon free from smoking
On May 1, 2018 the regulations on smoking become effective to free the public areas from smoke, to prohibit commercials, promotion and sponsorship of tobacco, as stated in Tbilisi Medical University at the event “Georgia without Tobacco”.
The event was organized by the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Ministry of Labor, National Disease Control Center and Tbilisi State Medical University.
The Chair of the Healthcare and Social Issues Committee, Akaki Zoidze stated that this event is the message “Be free from tobacco”. “May 1 is the day of international solidarity. In our case, it will be the solidarity day amongst our smoker and non-smoker citizens when the smokers can smoke at the account of minor discomfort and thus, protect lives and health of non-smokers, namely of 20010 persons annually die of passive smoking”.
